1st surprise: my order arrived in two days. 2nd surprise: the tubes were excellently packed for shipment. Best surprise: although not yet completely burned in on my Minimax HDCD CD player, widen the soundstage, increase separation between instruments, significantly improve high end sustain, and reproduce bass in a razor neutral aspect.
Addendum 11/25/10: I now have 50+ hrs on these tubes. Blackness has increased, but soundstage appears to be deeper rather than wider. Vocals float forward with better timbre, instrument placement on some recordings is so good it's spooky. Bass, which at first seemed completely neutral, now offers great 'bloom', no 'boom'. Be warned! These tubes WILL reveal limitations in poorly recorded source material. If you want warm and fuzzy coloration, these aren't for you. If you want reference grade perfection, and your equipment can handle it, you will not be dissapointed, IMO.
