NOTE: After spending $$$$ on tooling and various prototypes, we have fitted Special Grade Flying Leads tubes with Custom Bakelite Bases developed in-house. It is a multi-step, labor intensive process. Each lead is straightened and cleaned to ensure perfect fusion with the base pins in the soldering bath. Process is painstakingly slow, so we will be adding a few tubes at a time to the inventory.

TUBE BASE ON THESE IS SLIMMER, SO THAT IT WOULD WORK WITH SOCKETS WITH COLLARS IN ADDITION TO ALL REGULAR SOCKETS.

Tubes are Plug & Play, Ready to Use,  fitted with our Custom made Bakelite Bases (INTL Patent Application in Process).

Brand New MINT NOS NIB Rare 1961 BRIMAR CV4035 Box Plate Military tubes. CV4035 Flying Lead is a Premium Grade, High Reliability Long Life version of ECC83/CV492/CV4004/6057/12AX7 valves (Click Here). Etched STC Rochester Plant Date Codes. Made in England. Labels are a bit fragile on these tubes since chalky printing from 1960s comes off easily with contact.

R.E.M.E Donnington stock. This batch came in oversize brown cardboard boxes with extra protection. Few random pieces have blue inspection stamp dated April 3 1967 (see larger picture).

CV4035 premium grade version of the late 1950s-early 1960s Box Plate CV492 aka CV4004 is one of the best from Brimar in the ECC83 types (click Larger Photo).

Tested and matched on Top of the Line Calibrated Hickok 580 Lab Grade Tester.

Single Tube = $100. Select 2 for a Matched Pair or 4 for a Matched Quad. Even odd number of tubes will be matched.

I've tried dozens of 12AX7 type tubes in my heavily modified Jolida JD-502BRC/B&W 683 and these Brimar CV4035 are some of my favorites.  They have fast, dynamic bass, a sweet airy treble and a close and accurate mids.  A good all-arounder.

I also have a pair of the Mullard CV4035, which I think sound very similar, but warmer and maybe a less airy treble.  The Brimar is perhaps a more transparent tube, but I think I prefer the sound of the Mullards.  One can favor one over the other depending on gear and personal preferences; both are nice tubes.  Compared to late '70s/early '80s versions of Mullard and Brimar boxed plate CV4004, these CV4035 have a lower noise floor and sound just slightly more refined.

About the only well known 12AX7 types I haven't tried are the Telefunken ECC803S and Gold Lions.  My favorites include the Tesla frame grid E83CC, RCA black plate 12AX7, Tungsram stapled plate ECC83, CBS 7729 and Amperex and Mullard short/long plate ECC83.
