I normally use JJ EL-84's ; they're an excellent, all-around tube. But, for the amp that needs to be thicker, and a little dark at high/full volumes, these 6P14P's are excellent. I've used RCA's, JJ's, GE's, Polams, Ei's, and new Sovteks, and they all sound good at low/medium volumes. At high volumes, with certain speakers, they can become a little too in -your -face ( which, sometimes, can be a good thing ). I've tried the 6P14P's with various guitars and speakers, and they seem to tame down the high volume treble response with some amps/speakers the best. It's good having this tone option for amps/guitar players who need it.
